We were delighted to receive an e-mail from Ms. Martyn recently, giving us the fabulous news that she had entered us into a competition on Ireland AM and we had won. The prize was a trip to Keeling’s Farm for 30 children and to participate in some berry themed activities as well as meet some of the broadcasters from Ireland AM.
So very early on Friday morning, 31st March 2017, the boys and girls from 4th, 5th and 6th Classes along with Mrs Molloy and Ms Murphy headed off to Keeling’s Farm in St. Margaret’s, Co. Meath. It was a great thrill to see their faces (many of them painted as strawberries) on our TV screens and mobile phones before the remainder of the pupils appeared for business as usual at the school.
The children met the resident beekeeper for Keeling’s Farm and some of the pupils even donned the full beekeeper’s suit and had a very engaging conversation regarding the conservation of bees in Ireland.
Every child brought home a strawberry plant and a cooler bag full of berries.
